I haven't been able to publish a fun Throwback Thursday post for a while since school started up, so for this one I am digging deep into all of our dark pasts and addressing the inner emo kid in all of us. I have a lot of fond memories listening to these albums with my oldest brother, so I'm very excited to bring them up again and hopefully remind you that these are some amazing albums.

Brand New will forever be one of those bands that I turn to for some jams that match my moody times. "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me" is the perfect example of a timeless emo album. I mean, c'mon, with a song like "Jesus Christ" how could it not be? "Jesus Christ" isn't the only great song on this album, not by a long shot. This album is filled with amazing songs like "Snowing Season," "Degausser" and "Not the Sun." Honestly, this album is a good listen from start to finish.

Now, Alkaline Trio might not technically be an emo group, but this album is so amazing and definitely feeds my inner emo kid. I have said it a million times and I will say it again, Matt Skiba is one of the best musicians in his genre and he can pull off lipstick shades that I only dream of pulling off! But, that's besides the point. The point is, Alkaline Trio is probably one of the most musically talented groups in this genre, in my opinion. If you have never listened to this album or it has been years since you last listened to it, do yourself a favor and go look it up right now. Trust me, you will not regret it.

This would not be a post about emo kids if I didn't mention My Chemical Romance. This album was pretty much my anthem when I was younger and angstier. I listened to it non-stop and even used it as an "escape" when I was at my Dad's house for the summers. Chances are, if you haven't heard this entire album, you have at least heard "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" and "Helena." If that is the case, you should know that you are cheating yourself. This album is one of my favorite albums of all time and it never gets old. I'll still listen to "Cemetery Drive" and cry on the inside, no shame. And you should too! If you have forgotten about this album, you need to check your priorities in life.
