Fall Out Boy played a show in my hometown and it was magical

Jamie Hampton

When I was eleven years old I came across Fall Out Boy and it changed my life.

I have lived in Wyoming my entire life and consider Cheyenne to be my hometown. If you have no idea where that is, that's normal and no, it's not Northern Colorado. Anyways, growing up in Cheyenne proved to be difficult at times based on my interests. It wasn't until high school that I fully found a group of friends that shared the same taste in music.

I remember really getting into Fall Out Boy in the 5th grade and I just absolutely idolized them. I even did a speech about Pete Wentz in my 7th grade advanced English class. Impressed? I sure was.

It wasn't like people didn't like Fall Out Boy. It's just that I was, what some might say, obsessed with them while others were only listening to "Sugar We're Goin Down" and "Dance, Dance." I mean, how could you not be obsessed with them? They did so much for me through the remainder of elementary school and it continued on through junior high school.

Over the years I was lucky enough to see them several times before they took their famous hiatus. In order to see them I had to travel to Denver, Colorado. I never knew that someday Fall Out Boy would be performing in my hometown at Cheyenne Frontier Days.

I've never been a huge supporter of Cheyenne Frontier Days for many reasons that I won't get into, but you better believe I bought a ticket to Fall Out Boy the minute they went on sale. For goodness sake, Pete Wentz was going to be in the town that I grew up in. He was going to be in the town that I gave the speech about him in. Like, whaaaaat? *7th grade me starts hyperventilating*

The excitement of getting to see Fall Out Boy in Cheyenne continued from the second I hit "confirm order" up until they played "Saturday" as their final song. The set list they had prepared was nearly flawless. They played such a good variety of songs that they managed to cover every single album with at least one song. I could tell while sitting in the bleachers that everyone at the show was satisfied with the show that had been put on. They played "I Don't Care," "Hum Hallelujah," "Centuries," "Grand Theft Autumn" and so many more.

I was sitting on the edge of my seat the entire show. It was so hard to contain myself in order to not block the view of the people behind me. Fall Out Boy has been a band for many years now and they're still killing it.

I remember thinking how surreal it all felt during the show. I sang along at the top of my lungs while I tried to process all of the emotions I was feeling. I left that show feeling happier than I have in a while. I will never forget all of the feelings I felt leading up to it and the emotions that took over while I was at the show.
