Although the year is still young, I have high hopes that this will be an amazing year for music. As the year gets rolling, many different artists have been in and out of the studio working on new music for everyone to hear. There are some very exciting ones that don’t have actual dates set, which include bands like Fleetwood Mac, 5 Seconds of Summer and maybe even Sum 41. In order to help you out with what is coming out this year for certain, I am going to give a preview of the most anticipated albums (in my opinion) of 2015.
#6 Lana Del Rey: Let’s be honest, no matter who you are, there is at least one Lana Del Rey song that is your jam. For me, it’s Summertime Sadness. There’s something about her haunting voice and catchy beats that make you want to keep listening. Lana Del Rey is set to release her fourth studio album, Honeymoon, this year. With the successful release of her album Ultraviolence in 2014, there is a lot to look forward to with this fourth album.
#5 Pierce The Veil: Pierce The Veil really outdid themselves with the release of their album, Collide with the Sky in 2012. Pierce The Veil released their first album in 2007 and since then has grown drastically as a band. Each album is just slightly better than the one before. If Pierce The Veil continues to follow this trend, they will release the best album of theirs yet. After hearing singles like “King For A Day” featuring Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens off of their 2012 album, there’s no telling how big this 2015 album will be.
#4 Panic! At the Disco: I have been a huge fan of Panic! At the Disco since grade school and have been there from the loss of two band members to reconstructing the band’s sound, so when I heard that there was going to be a new Panic! album, I was extremely excited. Panic! is such an interesting group because they have managed to change their sound without really straying too far from where they started ten years ago. Panic! has been releasing albums since 2005 and each album they release has a newer and more improved sound. The last album they released was in 2013 and had a wide variety of sounds that came together to create a pretty good album, but I think Panic! is capable of better and will achieve that with their 2015 album.
#3 Blink-182: The idea of Blink-182 releasing another album seems rather absurd since they have been around for so long, and let’s be honest, their album Neighborhoods in 2011 was not as great as we had all expected after their reunion. But, with the recent loss of vocalist/lead guitarist Tom DeLonge, there’s hope! I’m hoping that with DeLonge out of the picture, Blink-182 might be able to reclaim their sound and get away from sounding like another version of Angels & Airwaves. There is no set date for the release of Blink’s seventh studio album, especially since the band is still working out the kinks that DeLonge caused, but when it happens, it is going to be one for the books.
#2 twenty one pilots: The musical duo of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun have been in the studio on and off working on their fourth studio album that is due to drop this year. The duo became somewhat known for their single “Car Radio” off of their album Vessel. Twenty One Pilots is one of my favorite bands that I have ever come across because they find a way to mash rapping, clean singing, piano, intense drums and meaningful lyrics all into one wonderful sound. The duo last released an album in 2012 and if Vessel is any indicator for this next album, it should blow it out of the water.
#1 All Time Low: I know, I know. All Time Low is a total high-school-fangirl-band, but with the release of their sixth studio album set for Apr. 3 I can’t help but channel that inner fangirl that we all have. All Time Low released their first single from their new album Future Hearts earlier this year and just to put it simply, it was amazing. It
had a sound that showed All Time Low was ready to get back into the swing of things by tweaking their usual pop-punk sound and maybe sounding a little more aggressive. These four boys from Maryland are ready to grow out of their pop-punk stereotype and I couldn’t be more excited to hear what this new album brings.
